  3. This file contains installation instructions and other important
  4. information.

  6. Shareware distributors who wish to distribute this program should
  7. read the file VENDOR.TXT for information on our distribution
  8. policy.  This file also contains information that may help you in
  9. evaluating and writing descriptions for this software in your
  10. catalog, on your BBS or however you distribute shareware.

  12. The file SHAREWAR.TXT describes what shareware is, for those who
  13. may be new to shareware.  It also describes our registration
  14. policy, how to go about registering, what you get with registra-
  15. tion and the ASP Ombudsman statement.  The Association of Shareware
  16. Professionals (ASP) sets standards for shareware authors (like
  17. Gamma Software) to ensure that shareware works for you (the end
  18. user).

  21. INSTALLING / RUNNING THE PROGRAM
  22. --------------------------------
  23. Since this program is distributed through shareware we cannot
  24. completely control the format in which you receive your copy.  The
  25. first step in installing this software is to get it into a
  26. directory on your hard disk.  All the files must be in the same
  27. directory.  The steps necessary to do this will vary depending on
  28. the format in which you received your copy.

  30. This may involve uncompressing the files if you received them
  31. in a compressed format.  For example if there is a file with a
  32. .ZIP, .ARC or .LZH extension (these are the most common, there are
  33. others).  The vendor should provide you with the necessary
  34. instructions and tools to accomplish this.

  36. If the files are not compressed then you can simply copy them to a
  37. directory on your hard disk.  You can accomplish this using the
  38. Windows File Manager.  See your Windows manual for information on
  39. how to make a directory and copy the files.

  41. Once the files are in a directory on your hard disk you can run
  42. the program by selecting "Run" from the "File" menu on the 
  43. Program Mananger menu bar.  Then type the following in the
  44. "Command Line" box.

  48. Replace the path "C:\CADV\" with the path in which you installed
  49. CAD Vantage.  Then select the "OK" button.  The program will then 
  50. load.

  52. The first screen has a brief message describing shareware and has
  53. options for registering and bringing up a list of what you get
  54. with registration.  You are initially placed in the "Enter X to
  55. continue." field.  To continue on to the rest of the program
  56. simply type the letter that follows "Enter" (note - it must be
  57. capital).

  59. At this point you should probably go through the "Getting Started"
  60. section of the manual to get a brief overview of the program.

  63. PRINTING THE MANUAL
  64. -------------------
  65. To print the manual click on the MS-DOS icon in the Main Program
  66. Manager group.  At the DOS prompt change to the drive and
  67. directory that contains the CAD Vantage software and type:

  69.    PRINT MANUAL.TXT
  70.  
  71. This will send the manual to the printer.  Make sure the printer
  72. is on and on-line before executing this command.  The manual
  73. takes around 50 pages to print.
